Match Chronicle 1 melee weapon families to their class skills, shot budget and hunting role before investing in an upgrade.
Three melee families can occupy similar shopping decisions while serving different C1 class skills. Gladiator and Bladedancer develop dual-weapon skills, Warlord uses polearm tools for grouped enemies, and Tyrant develops fist attacks. A weapon's attack number alone does not tell you whether your chosen active skill can use it. Open the relevant class page and skill requirement before spending on a weapon that your current profession cannot exploit.
The C1 item catalogue records as a D-grade dual sword, as a C-grade fist weapon and as a C-grade polearm. These examples show the families and grades, not a best-in-slot ranking. The transition from D to C changes both purchase cost and shot grade. Open each item record for its actual attack values, source and availability; an attractive listing may not fit the character's Expertise or adena reserve.
| Native C1 weapon | Recorded grade | Relevant path |
|---|---|---|
| D | Gladiator or Bladedancer dual-weapon plan | |
| C | Tyrant fist-skill plan | |
| C | Warlord polearm plan |
Gladiator's mapped path contains sonic attacks such as
Double Sonic Slash and
Sonic Blaster, while Bladedancer has
Dual Weapon Mastery and dances that support a party. That does not make their whole play style identical. Check each active skill's weapon condition and level, then price the dual pair alongside its shots and armor. Replacing a practical single weapon too early can leave the character with a strong-looking pair but no sustainable hunting budget.
Chronicle 1 adjusted polearm damage and range, and Warlord's C1 path includes
Provoke and
Whirlwind. Pulling several monsters can make a polearm useful only when the group can control the incoming damage and finish them before resources collapse. Compare individual mobs in the catalogue, choose a safe retreat line and keep the healer out of the pull path. A wider attack does not turn any crowded camp into a profitable one.
Tyrant's
Fist Mastery and
Force Blaster point to a different investment from a Gladiator's dual pair or a Warlord's polearm. Inspect the exact C1 skill conditions and the weapon grade before copying another melee player's purchases. A practical comparison uses the same target level and full fight cycle: time to kill, MP and HP spent, shots consumed and travel between targets. The stronger isolated hit may lose on the complete route.
Preview the class at its real level in the C1 Char Builder, select one candidate weapon and check the resulting grade and skill list. Then compare that setup against familiar monsters rather than changing weapon, armor and camp together. Keep adena for the matching Soulshots and recovery supplies; the C1 shot calculator can reveal a recurring cost that a weapon listing hides. A planned upgrade should make the whole session better, not only the character sheet.
