Find the C1 wolf and hatchling quests, identify the correct control and food items, and choose pet gear without neglecting care.
The native C1 quest catalogue records Get a Pet at level 15 and Little Wing at level 35. The Chronicle 1 update associates Little Wing with the three hatchling types: Wind, Star and Twilight. Open the exact quest page for its current NPC, steps and rewards before buying gear or traveling to a rumored location. A control item obtained through a quest or another player is the object that lets you call the pet; a class servitor skill follows separate rules.
| C1 quest | Recorded minimum level | What to inspect |
|---|---|---|
| Get a Pet | 15 | Wolf acquisition steps |
| Little Wing | 35 | Hatchling acquisition steps and reward |
The item catalogue contains a and separate Dragonflutes of Wind, Star and Twilight. They identify different pet ownership items. Food is another purchase: and are recorded separately, so check the exact name rather than assuming one stack feeds both. Pack enough food for a normal session before spending on a higher-tier weapon. The existing pet-care guide explains the ongoing hunger and revival risks.
| C1 control or food item | Purpose | Check before leaving |
|---|---|---|
| Call a wolf | Keep the correct collar | |
| Feed a wolf | Carry a reserve | |
| Call a Wind hatchling | Match the intended hatchling | |
| Feed a hatchling | Carry a separate reserve |
Chronicle 1 added equipment for wolves and hatchlings, and the native catalogue records pieces such as and , plus weapons such as and . The catalogue spelling is preserved on the linked item pages; the useful decision is which species the item belongs to and whether the upgrade is affordable after food. Check actual armor or attack fields on each item rather than assuming that names imply a fixed progression.
| Recorded C1 pet item | Use | Budget question |
|---|---|---|
| Wolf armor | Will food still be covered? | |
| Wolf weapon | Can you protect the pet using it? | |
| Hatchling armor | Does this fit the current pet? | |
| Hatchling weapon | Is the weapon worth its cost now? |
The Chronicle 1 pet update states that items held by a recalled pet move into the owner's inventory. If the owner has no space, the items can be dropped on the ground with a brief pickup priority. Before a long journey or a recall, free slots and check weight on both inventories. Pet storage is useful during a hunt, but it is not a substitute for planning the return trip with room for the cargo.
A new companion is an extra combatant and an extra risk. Start on targets the owner can finish even if the pet must return, issue attack and follow commands deliberately, and watch the pet's HP and hunger between pulls. Do not use its first expensive weapon as a reason to enter a dangerous area earlier. If the owner dies, Chronicle 1 no longer permits issuing pet commands while dead, so leave enough space to retreat before the fight reaches that point.
After ten manageable fights, record food consumed, healing or recovery needed, time spent protecting the pet and any useful contribution it made. Compare that cost with the next owner upgrade or a safer hunting area. A pet can be rewarding even when it is not the fastest leveling tool, but its gear should serve a specific plan rather than a catalogue completion goal. Use the linked quest and item records to prepare the next step.
