Learn how C1 healer Resurrection restores part of lost XP, compare its five ranks with scrolls, and plan recovery after a death or siege.
Death can take experience away from the character you were leveling. A fall across a level threshold can also remove an automatically learned skill until that level is earned again; Chronicle 1's skill update explicitly describes this behaviour. The client XP curve shows the size of each level bar, but it does not by itself say how much an ordinary death removes on a particular server. Look at your XP immediately before and after death when the exact cost matters. Then decide whether to wait for a healer, accept a scroll, or return to town.
The C1 skill record for Resurrection (skill 1016) contains five ranks. Its ordinary resurrection effect rises from 0 to 50 as the rank increases; these are base recovery percentages of the recoverable XP lost in that death, not percentages of your whole level bar. The class records place the first two ranks with Cleric, Elven Oracle and Shillien Oracle, while Bishop and Elven Elder learn the higher three ranks. Ask for the caster's actual skill rank rather than assuming every healer gives the same return.
| Resurrection rank | Base XP loss restored | C1 class learn milestone |
|---|---|---|
| Rank 1 | 0% | Cleric, Elven Oracle, Shillien Oracle · level 20 |
| Rank 2 | 20% | Cleric, Elven Oracle, Shillien Oracle · level 30 |
| Rank 3 | 30% | Bishop, Elven Elder · level 40 |
| Rank 4 | 40% | Bishop, Elven Elder · level 48 |
| Rank 5 | 50% | Bishop, Elven Elder · level 56 |
Suppose a death removes 10,000 recoverable XP. A rank 2
Resurrection at its 20% base rate gives 2,000 XP back and leaves 8,000 lost. Rank 5 at 50% gives 5,000 back and leaves 5,000 lost. Neither cast awards a percentage of the full level bar, and the example does not claim every death costs 10,000 XP. If you want to compare the setback with your next level, use the XP Curve for the bar size and your character sheet for the actual death loss.
Mass Resurrection (skill 1254) is for several fallen clan members near the Bishop, whereas ordinary
Resurrection targets one fallen party member. The native C1 skill entries record four
Mass Resurrection ranks with recovery parameters of 0, 20, 30 and 40. The Chronicle 1 update also describes stronger ranks returning more experience. That makes the spell useful after a group wipe, but its radius, MP cost and long reuse mean the group still needs a safe caster and a plan for standing up together. Check the recorded rank before comparing it with a single-target revive.
The regular uses a C1 effect with zero XP recovery: it gets a party member back on their feet but does not replace the XP already lost. The has a separate, stronger special effect in the native data. Its raw effect value is 200, which must not be read as '200% of the level bar'; check the live server's item behaviour before spending one for a full-recovery goal. Scrolls of Escape serve a different purpose: a living character uses them to leave an area, not to revive a corpse.
| C1 item | Recovery role | XP decision |
|---|---|---|
| Revives one fallen party member | Native effect restores 0% of lost XP | |
| Uses a special blessed revive effect | Check its full-recovery behaviour on your server | |
| Moves a living character to an escape destination | Does not revive or restore XP | |
| Alternate escape item | Does not revive or restore XP |
During a Chronicle 1 castle siege, the published rule reduces the experience penalty for death by 75% compared with the normal penalty and prevents item drops from siege deaths. That is a rule of the siege situation, not a general reduction for every hunt or every clan conflict. A healer's resurrection recovery is a second calculation applied to whatever recoverable XP the death actually removed. Keep the battlefield and registration conditions in mind before applying the siege rule to a particular fight.
Before entering a dangerous room, check which party member has the best available
Resurrection rank, who carries scrolls and where everyone can retreat. Keep the healer out of an uncontrolled pull; if that character dies first, the party may have no safe way to recover on site. A surviving member can use an escape item and regroup, but town travel adds time and possibly adena. Red-name characters also face separate item risk under the PvP and karma rules. Choose the recovery plan from your actual party, location and server rules rather than relying on the cheapest scroll alone.
