Understand how experience, skill points, trainers and profession milestones shape a Chronicle 1 character.
Experience points move your character toward the next level. Skill points are a separate balance spent on eligible skills. When you gain a level, more skills may become available, but they do not all appear on your hotbar automatically. Visit the appropriate trainer, inspect the C1 skill list for your class and level, and decide what to learn with the SP you have. That small pause at a trainer is where your next hunting plan begins.
A class page mixes abilities from different learn levels. Look at the next few levels, not just the strongest skill shown at the bottom of the list. An active attack changes how you fight immediately; a passive may improve every swing or cast; a support skill may matter most when you join a party. For each candidate, ask when it becomes learnable, what it costs to use, and whether your weapon or role lets you benefit from it now.
If fights take too long, inspect damage skills or useful passives. If you spend more time recovering than fighting, survival, healing or resource efficiency may deserve attention first. In a fixed party, a buff or heal can improve the group's pace more than one extra personal attack. There is no universal purchase order across all C1 classes: the useful choice depends on the next area, your equipment and who hunts with you.
Buying a skill with SP is only the beginning. Active skills can consume MP, and repeated spellcasting may call for Spiritshots matched to the weapon. Physical skills, arrows and Soulshots can have their own supply cost. Put a newly learned ability into a short test hunt before rebuilding your whole budget around it. More damage on one target may be offset by longer recovery or higher adena spent across an hour.
The first profession milestone is level 20 and the second is level 40. The transfer and its quest path matter because the new profession opens another part of the skill tree. Before each milestone, keep enough SP and adena to make use of the new options, but do not assume every later skill can be learned on the day you transfer. Check its exact C1 learn level and trainer requirements on the destination class page.
| Moment | Check | Decision |
|---|---|---|
| After a level-up | New eligible skills and current SP | Learn what improves the next hunts |
| Before a transfer | Quest path and destination profession | Prepare travel, proof items and supplies |
| After a transfer | New skill levels and equipment fit | Revisit the hunting plan |
A simple test is more useful than a theoretical perfect build. Note how many fights you can finish before resting, which skill actually shortens a dangerous encounter, and whether your consumables run out before your inventory fills. If a new ability barely changes the session, save the next SP purchase for a clearer need. The class catalogue tells you what exists; your own repeatable hunt tells you which option helps now.
